The Friends of the Seattle Public Library is a non-profit, grassroots organization dedicated to promoting our Library as an essential institution of our society. Our volunteer members advocate, educate, and raise funds on behalf of the Library, its patrons, and the larger Seattle community.

Friends are ambassadors to the community.

Members help share the news about how many important programs and services the Library provides, in addition to its collections.  The libraries that were improved and expanded by Libraries For All now have meeting rooms, more space for collections, and programs that benefit many patrons, including homework help, story times, summer reading programs, computer classes, author readings, book clubs and English language support, just to name a few.  Friends also actively advocate for adequate funding for collections, operations, and services, by attending public budget hearings and by writing letters to the mayor and the city council in support of library resources.  Apply today!

Thanks to your participation and interest!

Advocate for your library!

The Friends of The Seattle Public Library are coming to your neighborhood this summer and fall. We’re visiting your branch, talking to local organizations, and hoping to talk to you about what makes branch libraries so important to you and your neighborhood.

We'd like to know how the libraries help you and your community--that’s a story we need to tell Seattle City Council and Mayor Nickels to insure adequate library funding!

Come help us out!

Give time at our local events or help us on our board. Check out the kinds of opportunities we have today!
