Where do book donations go?
Most donations go to the Friends of The Seattle Public Library for the group's twice yearly book sales. On rare occasions, donations are added to the Library Collection. These are usually books of special or local interest.
Are non-monetary donations tax-deductible?
Yes. The Friends of The Seattle Public Library is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, and your donation is tax-deductible as a charitable contribution to the extent allowed by law. Book Sale proceeds benefit the Seattle Public Library.
How do I make book donations?
Donations can be delivered to the Friends Book Sale sorting room, located at 6310 NE 74th St., Seattle, WA, 98115, within Warren G. Magnuson Park.
Donations are accepted at Magnuson Park on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
Special arrangements may be made to accept donations at alternative times by phoning 206-523-4053 or e-mailing book.sale@spl.org.
Note: We are closed for donations for approximately two weeks before and after each book sale. After that hiatus, book sorters volunteer year-round to prepare for our twice-yearly sales and will welcome your donations.
To get to the sorting room at Magnuson Park:
1. Enter Warren G. Magnuson Park at 7400 Sand Point Way NE
2. Drive straight ahead about a block and a half and look to the left for the blue awning above the doorway.
3. The sorting room is located down the hall on the left.
We have carts to assist with unloading.
If you have three or fewer boxes of books, you may take them to your local branch library.
